"Having an end in mind is often one of the most important parts of committing to a fitness programme. In my case, I had many years of thinking that historic injuries would prevent me from doing any serious running again. However, in what can only be described as a serious case of a mid life crisis, I decided to give it a go!

My campaign was to run a half marathon in the autumn as a prelude to running the London Marathon the following April. So far so good, but it rapidly became clear that whilst I had retained my long distance stamina, my core fitness was letting me down.  Enter Jon!

Jon is a serious runner with a real track record (!!) himself. He gets what it takes to prepare for major races. As a result, his constructive encouragement to build the miles in practice runs was invaluable. More to the point the twice weekly gym sessions were a crucial part of the campaign as simple leg muscles are not enough - core strength is key too.

Jon's style is particularly attractive - I doubt if there are many PT's who are as polite as Jon - but you are never left in any doubt as to what is expected of you!

So, I would heartily recommend him to anyone keen to tackle running - taking it seriously but not obsessively so!"

OSCAR L’ANSON

My 14 year old son Oscar had been suffering for nearly a year with a peroneal tendon subluxation in his ankle. He is a keen and talented rugby player and had been off sport for a while. He is also a Type 1 Diabetic so exercise is crucial to managing blood sugars. After an operation to fix the tendon, the consultant put us in touch with Jon.

Right from the start, Jon was incredible. Not only was he flexible in when he could schedule the appointments, he was reliable and enthusiastic. He understood Oscar's needs and worked with him on a programme that built up at a pace that was appropriate and effective. He certainly didn't give Oscar an easy time but he pushed him just enough so he saw improvements that then spurred him on. Jon was patient when the diabetes interfered with the sessions and adapted them when appropriate.

Getting teenagers to do anything without a tirade of grumbles is difficult but Jon ignited Oscar's desire to get back to his beloved rugby and through his encouragement Oscar embraced the 'homework' exercises happily.

Our goal was for Oscar to be back playing rugby for his school and club team within 3 months, something that was not guaranteed after the operation. The smile on his face when he ran off the rugby pitch was amazing. To quote Oscar "that was the most amazing feeling in the world." I would definitely recommend Jon if you are recovering from an injury and you need to get back to fighting fit!

“Recovering from a stress fracture, I was recommended to see Jon to get back into running shape. I have always loved to run, and the first thing you realise about Jon is his passion for the sport too. He is hugely enthusiastic and supportive, quick to identify where your weaknesses are, and how to turn them into strengths. My aim was to get back to running safely (with no more broken bones!) and complete the London Marathon. Working with Jon over just a few months, not only have I managed to hit the roads again (with two legs and all), but i’ve become a stronger runner – I have achieved my all-time PBs for both 5km and 10km distances, and hope to continue this when moving onto the longer distances.

Jon is committed to his clients, always available to give useful advice and happy high fives, but most importantly, he understands my love for this sport. He understands why I am doing this and what I want to achieve, and has helped me find it. It is this encouragement and support which makes Jon a unique and great personal trainer; I would highly recommend him to anyone wanting to reach a certain goal, or just stay fit – he is service with a smile!”

"I’ve known Jon now for several years. Jon is not an average PT, he is far more than that. As well as being a superb running coach, Jon also helps rehabilitate, pre and post operative, many of my patients on a regular basis. Jon is a world class personal trainer and the best I have ever met. As a foot and ankle surgeon (The London Foot & Ankle Clinic) I see many patients with foot and ankle problems. Jon helps me manage not only those that I operate on but also those I manage non operatively.

Jon’s expertise allows him to advise patients on a number of issues whether it be exercise technique, training programs, diet advice, strength and conditioning work or creating a tailored rehab program post surgery. Many of my patients would not be able to get to their high level of function and performance without his guidance and supervision. I could not recommend him highly enough."

“I have been training with Jon for 2 years after recovering from a stress fracture. I have gone from being not particularly fit nor unfit and being quite indifferent or even reluctant to go to the gym, to now actively enjoying training twice a week in addition to yoga and cycling almost everyday.

Jon is amazing. He has a ton of knowledge and keeps learning and sharing on many topics around fitness, running and rehabilitation after an injury. His connections and experience in the medical field are invaluable. He is also kind, a good listener, and very organised. Through a lot of encouragement patience and very clear and precise instructions Jon has helped me to regain my strength and confidence and grow in fitness a lot further than I would have imagined. He has helped me to push myself and actually enjoy it!

Sessions are always gentle and within my ability but with that extra push and encouragement to stretch my limit a little bit more. I always come out of sessions feeling happy and proud and totally ready for the day.

I definitely recommend training with Jon!”

”When I entered my forties and decided my fitness training needed professional guidance I began to work with what turned out to be a series of different personal trainers. None of them lasted more than a few months, as their idiosyncrasies and shortcomings became evident (and yes, I am picky and can be very difficult).
I came to know Jon through my wife after he had been coaching her for a while, and he has now been my fitness coach for more than 9 years. Through working with Jon, all measures of my physical fitness - muscular strength, endurance, VO2 uptake, range of motion - have improved significantly. Over recent months he has devised and coached me through a rehabilitation programme that overcame two groin and knee problems that at one time seemed insuperable.
With Jon as my coach I have achieved a level of fitness that many men in their thirties would envy; and I’m now sixty six years old..”
